The beta phase of the Finnish higher education institutions’ Opin.fi service was concluded. In autumn 2024, the service was tested by over 13,000 learners who gave feedback to support its further development. The service was launched in April 2025. Opin.fi is a national digital service platform that offers the possibility of browsing all open courses on a single site.

Opin.fi is a service that brings together the studies offered by 37 Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences in one place. HEHF operates the service production in Opin.fi and works closely together with both the higher education institutions and Digivisio 2030 project, which is responsible for building and developing Opin.fi.

The beta phase of the service was available between 8 October and 19 December 2024, enabling the first users to test the service and give feedback for its future development. The purpose of the beta phase was to gather initial user experiences before the service was launched. Its development will continue based on feedback and lessons learned from the beta version.

The service was launched in April 2025 for everyone interested in learning and self-development.

A few facts about Opin.fi:

• Opin.fi is a joint service of 37 Finnish higher education institutions that displays the open study offerings of universities and universities of applied sciences in one place.
• This service is the first output of the Digivisio 2030 project (www.digivision.fi) that has been developed together with the higher education institutions since 2022.
• The Opin.fi service is operated by HigherEd Hub Finland Oy (HEHF).
• Autumn 2024 saw the beta phase of the service. While the service remained unfinished, user experiences and feedback were collected during the beta phase to help develop it further.
• In the beta phase, the service contained open studies offered by the first eight universities. The remaining higher education institutions are introducing the service in 2025.
• Opin.fi service was launched in April 2025.
