HEHF is ready to operate Opin.fi service production

HigherEd Hub Finland Oy (HEHF) is ready to start service production for Opin.fi . The company started operating in early 2024. HEHF works closely together with both higher education institutions and Digivisio 2030 project, which is responsible for building and developing the Opin.fi service.

Opin.fi underwent beta phase testing

Opin.fi, which was launched in 2025, is a completely new digital service for continuous learners owned by the Finnish higher education institutions. The service brings together the open study offerings of Finnish higher education institutions.

The Opin.fi service is operated by HigherEd Hub Finland Oy, which is owned by 35 Finnish higher education institutions. Digivisio 2030 project will continue to develop the service together with the higher education institutions, which will also make the decisions on the cooperation policies with Digivisio project and the development of shared services. This close cooperation will ensure the completion and implementation of an interoperable, cross-boundary and high-quality service.

“Together with the Digivisio project and higher education institutions, we want to be part of taking the learning experience of digital services in the higher education sector into the future, promoting a personalised, continuous learning journey,” says Pia Westerling, CEO of HEHF.

Service production enabled by the new company

HEHF will operate the service production of Opin.fi and support the higher education institutions in coordinating the services as well as build cooperation practices that will ensure high quality. The company and higher education institutions will jointly provide support to learners in using the service, ensuring that they get the help they need. When contacted by users, the higher education institutions will primarily answer questions about the studies they offer, while HEHF user support will handle enquiries concerning problems related to using the service.

“We are part of a large and inspiring group of experts dedicated to building a reliably operating future. Together, we can achieve more and make an impact that extends far into the future,” concludes CEO Westerling.

Pia Westerling took on the role of CEO in the new company, HEHF, owned by the higher education institutions in September, whereas IT Service Manager Elina Lehmijoki is responsible for the company’s service production and its development. The service platform architect is Toni Iltanen, who works for both HEHF and Digivisio 2030.
