Opin.fi brand receives an Honourable Mention at the prestigious Grand One competition
The Opin.fi brand was selected as a finalist in the Grand One competition held in March and received an Honourable Mention in the category Best Brand Identity. Grand One is Finland’s most significant digital media competition. Opin.fi is a nationwide service launched in April 2025 that brings together open studies offered by 36 Finnish higher education institutions and helps learners find study paths that suit their needs.
The goal of the launch year was to establish Opin.fi as a nationally recognised service and to ensure its adoption across higher education institutions throughout Finland. Achieving this required close collaboration among all participating institutions, as well as strong commitment to joint communications and the service launch.
The branding work for Opin.fi covered, among other things, the service name, brand strategy, visual identity, audio branding, brand promise and tone of voice. These elements enable higher education institutions to communicate about the service consistently across their own channels. The result is a service brand that makes the extensive and diverse study offering of Finnish higher education institutions accessible, easy to understand and engaging.
According to the Grand One jury (freely translated):
“This project stood out for its clarity. The identity works as a cohesive and dynamic whole, where every element feels considered and purposeful. There is a natural lightness in the execution, supported by careful production and a visible human touch. The visual identity evokes a genuine emotional experience while remaining polished and confident. The presentation reflected the work honestly, which strengthened its credibility. Overall, the result feels distinctive, well thought out and quietly strong.”
Digivisio 2030 is responsible for building and developing the Opin.fi service, while HigherEd Hub Finland Oy is responsible for its operations.
